WHO WE ARE
Our Story
The Edmonton Classical Guitar Society (ECGS) is a registered non-profit organization that provides a forum for listening, learning, performing and teaching classical guitar. We arrange concerts and masterclasses with internationally and nationally acclaimed virtuosi, and host informal events at which society members can play for each other and talk about music.
MISSION
VISION
The Edmonton Classical Guitar Society (“ECGS”) is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to fostering artistic excellence in classical guitar performance through solo and orchestral classical guitar, ensembles, and chamber music. Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant classical guitar culture in the wider community, through shared musical experiences, offering concerts and masterclasses by local and international artists. By connecting classical guitarists and audiences, we aim to deepen appreciation for the classical guitar and empower classical guitarists to find purpose and connection. Through our workshops and performance opportunities, we provide a platform for all classical guitarists to grow and collaborate.
The ECGS envisions a world where the classical guitar is celebrated and integrated into local, national, and international musical communities. We are committed to promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and increasing awareness of classical guitar music. By offering performances, masterclasses, and workshops, we strive to enrich, inspire, and educate current and future generations of Edmonton classical guitarists, fostering understanding, appreciation, and study of classical guitar while creating and building a community of enthusiasts dedicated to advancing these objectives.
