Xavier Jara
2016 winner of the highly prestigious Guitar Foundation of America Competition International Concert Artist Competition. One of a new generation of extraordinary performers on the guitar, Xavier Jara is a native of Minnesota and studied under Alan Johnston at the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis. In 2011 he moved to Paris for six years of work with the French master Judicael Perroy. While living in France he also completed his Bachelor's Degree at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he studied with guitarist Olivier Chassain and lutenist Eric Bellocq. Xavier Jara has won first prizes in the Boston Guitarfest (2014), the Gargnano Competition (2015) and the Tokyo International Competition (2016). In 2016 he returned home to the United States to win the Rose Augustine Grand Prize at the Guitar Foundation of America International Artist Competition in Denver. His GFA prize includes a solo CD in the Naxos “Laureate” series (released in 2017) and tour of more than fifty cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
