A prodigy in his youth, this extraordinary musician is now mentor to a new generation of French guitarists - a return ECGS engagement.
French guitarist Judicael Perroy began playing the guitar at age seven and four years later performed as soloist with the Ensemble Instrumental du Mans under the direction of André Girard. He received a Licence de Concert from the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris, and was the first prizewinner of his graduating class at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance (Paris Conservatoire). Perroy has won first prizes in many important competitions, including the 15th Concours René Bartoli and the 15th Guitar Foundation of America International Competition. His early CD, Aspen Suite, won five Diapason awards, presented by Diapason magazine, and he has since recorded for the Bayard Musique and Naxos labels. Currently, Judicael Perroy is Professor at the Ecole Nationale de Musique d'Aulnay-sous-Bois, a position he has held since 2004. A gifted teacher, he has taught the best of the younger generation of French guitarists, many of whom have gone on to win prizes in regional, national and international competitions. When he is not on tour, Judicael Perroy lives in Paris.
