Beijing Guitar Duo Meng Su and Yameng Wang
Two young Chinese guitarists - now performing together in one of the world’s exceptional guitar duos. Meng Su and Yameng Wang, the Beijing Guitar Duo, have performed throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, and have also toured extensively in a trio with their mentor Manuel Barrueco. The duo’s debut CD, Maracaípe, released in 2009, features the Latin-GRAMMY nominated piece written for them by guitarist/composer Sergio Assad. Their second CD, Bach to Tan Dun, includes the world premiere recording of renowned Chinese composer Tan Dun’s Eight Memories in Watercolor. Meng Su and Yameng Wang were both born in the coastal city of Qingdao, China and studied with Professor Chen Zhi in Beijing and at the Peabody Conservatory in the United States. Meng Su’s honors include the Gold Medal at the 2015 Parkening International Guitar Competition, while Yameng Wang at age 12 was the youngest guitarist ever to win the Tokyo International Guitar Competition.
